- Filing and Serving Initial Pleadings: An introduction to the procedures for initiating a family law case, including the preparation and filing of the petition, summons, and other pleadings.
- Disclosure Documents: The process of gathering information needed for preparing the disclosure documents, timelines, and preparation of the Income and Expense Declaration, Schedule of Assets and Debts, and other pleadings.
- Response, Default and Discovery: Preparing a response, the process to take the default of a party, and the discovery process for family law cases.
- Request for Order, Custody, Visitation, Findings and Order After Hearing: Preparation of a Request for Order to bring issues before the judge, including the preparation of the Findings and Order After Hearing.
- Trial, Marital Settlement Agreement, Judgment: Procedures before trial, including the judgment phase, and marital settlement agreements.
- Summary Dissolution, Legal Separation, and Parentage: An overview of each of these processes, the requirements, and how to apply them to particular facts.

Mary Lou Floyd, CCLS
Mary Lou Floyd has been a paralegal for over 30 years, has a BA in Criminal Justice, and an MS in Psychology. Mary Lou obtained her paralegal certificate from the National Institution for Paralegal Studies (now Devry).
She has been self-employed as a Sr. Paralegal since 2020. She has had a long career working in law offices (including training and mentoring legal staff). She has been a member of the Mt. Diablo Legal Professionals Association since 1988, is a past president, and is currently the Parliamentarian. At the Legal Professionals Inc. state level, she has served as the Continuing Education Coordinator and has taught numerous legal classes.
